Part-Worn Tyres in Wellington

Every part-worn tyre we sell is pressure tested and labelled with its size, brand and tread depth. The affordable alternative to buying new, without the guesswork.

Our speciality

Cheap tyres in Wellington, checked before they are sold

Part-worn tyres have a reputation problem, and in fairness some of it is earned. Buy a used tyre from the wrong place and you have no idea what you are getting. That is precisely the problem we set out to solve. Every part-worn tyre at The Tyre Warehouse is pressure tested and the casing inspected before it goes on the rack, and anything that fails that check never reaches a customer's car.

What is left is a tyre with a lot of useful life in it at a fraction of the price of new. Our stock typically carries around 5mm to 8mm of tread, which on many tyres is most of the usable depth. For a second car, an older vehicle, a van doing local work, or simply a household where a full set of new tyres is not in the budget this month, it is a genuinely sensible answer.

Everything is labelled. Walk along the racks and each tyre carries its size, its brand and its tread depth in plain writing, like the 255/50 x 19 XL General Grabber M&S with 7mm left on it. No mystery, no pressure.

  • Every tyre pressure tested and inspected before sale
  • Typically around 5mm to 8mm of tread remaining
  • Size, brand and tread depth labelled on every tyre
  • Matching pairs and sets available subject to stock
  • Car, van, 4x4 and commercial vehicle fitments

Before it reaches the rack

How a part-worn tyre gets approved

The checking is the part that matters, so it is worth being clear about what happens before a tyre is offered for sale in Wellington.

Inflated and pressure tested

The tyre is brought up to pressure and tested. A tyre that will not hold pressure, or that shows a slow leak, is rejected immediately.

Casing inspected

We look over the sidewalls and the inner casing for cuts, bulges, repairs and signs of damage. Anything structural rules a tyre out regardless of how much tread it has.

Tread measured and labelled

Remaining tread is measured and written on the tyre alongside the size and brand, so the customer sees the same information we do.

Fitted and balanced

Once you have chosen, the tyre is fitted and balanced on the vehicle at the workshop, usually while you wait.

Who buys part-worn

Saving money without cutting corners

The drivers who get the most out of part-worn tyres tend to have something in common: the vehicle does not justify a full set of new rubber, but it still has to be safe and legal. That covers a lot of people in Wellington.

  • Second cars and runarounds that cover modest mileage
  • Older vehicles where a new set costs a fair slice of the car's value
  • Vans and work vehicles where tyres are a running cost, not an investment
  • Anyone caught out by an MOT advisory who needs it sorting this week
  • Drivers who need one tyre replaced rather than four

If you would be better served by new tyres, we will say so. And if your tyres have been wearing unevenly on one edge, it is worth looking at wheel alignment at the same time, otherwise the replacements will go the same way.
