Wheels as well as tyres

Alloy wheels supplied in Wellington

Tyres are only half of what sits at each corner of a car. Wheels take a beating too, and a kerb on a narrow Somerset lane or a pothole taken at the wrong angle can leave a rim buckled, cracked or badly scuffed. Once that happens it is not just cosmetic. A buckled wheel will not hold a tyre properly, and you will feel it through the steering.

Alongside the tyre racks we hold alloy wheels, so in a lot of cases you can sort the wheel and the tyre in the same visit rather than chasing a rim around the county. A single replacement to match what is already on the car is the most common request, but we are equally happy to talk about a full set if you fancy changing the look of the vehicle.

Whatever you go for, the tyres get fitted and balanced onto the wheels here at the workshop, so what leaves Chelston Business Park is ready to bolt straight on.

  • Single alloys to replace one damaged wheel
  • Full sets where you want to change the look of the car
  • New or part-worn tyres fitted and balanced onto the wheels
  • Straight answers on what will and will not fit your vehicle

Why people call us

Three reasons drivers need a wheel

Most alloy wheel enquiries in Wellington come down to one of these, and each one needs a slightly different answer.

Kerb damage

The everyday one. A tight parking space or a narrow lane takes a chunk out of the rim. If it is only cosmetic you may be able to live with it. If the lip is damaged where the tyre seats, the wheel needs replacing.

Pothole or impact damage

A hard hit can buckle a rim or crack it outright. The usual giveaway is a vibration through the steering at speed, or a tyre that keeps losing pressure for no obvious reason.

Changing the look

Sometimes there is nothing wrong at all and you simply want the car to look better on a different set of wheels. Tell us the size and what you have in mind and we will see what we can find.

Before you call

What to have ready

Wheels are fussier than tyres about what fits, so a couple of details up front will save a lot of back and forth. If you can get us these, we can usually give you an answer on the phone.

  • Make, model and year of the vehicle
  • Wheel diameter and width, often stamped on the back of the wheel
  • The stud pattern, meaning how many bolts and how far apart
  • The tyre size currently on the car, taken from the sidewall

If you are replacing the wheel because of impact damage, it is worth having the alignment checked at the same time. A hit hard enough to buckle a rim has often knocked the geometry out too, and that will start eating your new tyres straight away.
